In case you are seeing this without having read my email, I'll fill you in.  We are in the planning stages of the 3rd Annual Dog Jog, and want to make it the best and biggest yet.  We are going to do all the fun stuff from last year, but are also looking for other great ideas to involve kids, pet owners, and the whole community!  Anything fun that would bring people out to enjoy the day.  You can read the email here, and if you want to get our emails on a regular basis, click here.
Leave your ideas in the comments section!

I think the 3rd annual Palozzi Dog walk sounds great. We look forward to hosting this fun event. Let me know what we can do to help.

This sounds like so much fun Dr. Susie...kinda like a Lollapalooza for dogs.
I would Love to join in, but Beau the Boxer is a bit anti social :( Is there anyway to incorporate an event that would help dogs like Beau integrate into the canine fun without all hell breaking loose???? :)

Somehow I managed to post my suggestion under the declaw section :(. So, I'll try again.
Cookie Toss or Toss Up: each human/K9 team gets 10 dog cookies. The teams are separated a few feet apart, and then the dog has to catch the treats. Each catch counts as one point. If there is a tie, then give the remaining teams 5 cookies, and move the lines so the team are further apart so the catch will be more difficult. Keep moving the teams further apart and needed until there is a winner.

Water Relay Race: You will need a large bucket, small 2-4 ounce cups, large 12-16 ounce cups and leashes. Each dog pairs with their human and lines up at the starting line. Place the bucket of water at the start line. Each team needs to have a large cup at the end of their lane. Give each team a small cup and fill with water from the bucket at the starting line. Dog/humans must run down to the finish line with the small cup of water in the same hand as the leash and empty the water from the small cup into the large cup (no using your free hand to steady the cup or leash-put free hand behind your back while running). Race back to the starting line, refill and do again until your large cup is full. The first team to fill their cup is the winning team

A thought from a paranoid dog owner: have a microchip check a Doggy Palooza Day. I meant to get Nacho's Chip checked last week but then forgot to ask. I know retention rates are very high, but would assume that on rare occasions improperly placed chips can migrate out and be lost or migrate into deeper tissue where they can't be read.
