Laboratory Services
There are many laboratory services that we can perform right here in the clinic. These tests are useful for sick animals, so we can better pinpoint problems quickly, and also as a baseline to monitor response to treatment. Another great use of in-house lab tests are for animals undergoing anesthesia. We can draw the blood, run the tests and have results before we anesthetize your pet. This way we know if there is anything unusual going on inside that may require us to adjust our drugs or dosages, or skip the procedure entirely if there is too much risk! This also helps your pet in the future by establishing a baseline set of values that will stay with your pets' records. We have equipment with the ability to run a complete blood count(CBC), chemistry panels, and electrolyte levels. Our new lab equipment is capable of running thyroid levels as well as other assays like cortisol and phenobarbitol levels. We also have "snap" tests that we can use to get results within minutes that check for parvovirus infection, feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus (FeLV/FIV) , heartworm infection, and pancreatitis. Fecal exams to check for internal parasites are performed in the clinic as well, for both large and small animals. Evaluation of urine can also be done via microscopic examination, reagent strip and specific gravity testing. We do have outside veterinary laboratories that can do any other specialty testing that your animals may require.
