Petandim (formerly Canine Health)

    This is a brand new product that is incredibly unique.  It came to us from the human side, as do most of our veterinary products.  The human version was discovered and got it's first patent about 10 years ago.  It was featured on ABC's Primetime Live as an investigative report in 2005.  The company that makes it came out with a canine version in February and we started using it shortly after.  We have had some incredible results and have become believers in this product.  It works differently than anything else out there, and that allows us to combine it with our other treatment modalities, as well as use it on its own.  We started using it for older dogs with arthritis, and have since expanded its use to dogs with back disease, liver problems, heart disease, and post surgery recovery, as well as some other conditions.  It works by turning on a set of genes that increases production of antioxidant enzymes as well as decreasing inflammation and fibrosis.  Inflammation is the root cause of many diseases, and the pain associated with other problems.  This is a natural product, the base ingredients are a blend of 5 herbs.  Included in the dog version is also collagen(which contains glucosamine, chondroitin, and hyaluronic acid- all key components for optimal joint health) and Omega 3 fatty acids.  These are supplements we commonly recommend for dogs, so it is nice to have them in an all-in-one chewable tab.  Those ingredients also help with with other areas of the body like heart, brain and skin.
